WIDYA SIREGAR

Widya Siregar or full name is Widya Agustina Siregar whose birthday’s date is 26 August was born in Jakarta, Indonesia, from father who was a government employee and a house wife mother. Since very little kid Widya was very fond of music and liked to listen to the music.  Her passion on music was supported by her father who then bought her first guitar for her.  Besides learning and practicing karate, reading books, and writing poems as well sometimes, at that time playing guitar was one of her hobby.  Knowing his daughter’s interest on musical art, her father registered her into a music school named “Yasmi” as abbreviation of “Yayasan Seni Musik Indonesia” and Widya was learning classic guitar for several years, continuously after she moved from Jakarta to Surabaya for following her father’s duty placement.  When she was continuing in the same music school to learn playing guitar in Surabaya, the music school held a joined examination with Royal School of Music, London – England. Her guitar teacher recommended her to do the examination in which she passed the examination in good result and held the certificate from Royal School of Music, London for Classic Guitar.

The frequency of her activities on music became rarely because of her competition activities in karate, and instead of continuing her music study she joined university in law faculty. Widya was completed her undergraduated education as a Bachelor of Law (Sarjana Hukum) in Airlangga University, Surabaya, and moved back to the city where she was born, Jakarta, to join a government airline company as its in-house lawyer.  In order to improve her knowledge on airline business and airline law, Widya was attending IATA (International Air Transportation Association) course in Geneva and was passed the course with “Distinction” predicate, and also continue her formal education and graduated as Master of Management along with Master of Law.  November 2008 Widya held her Ph.D (Doctor of Law) degree from Universitas Padjadjaran, Bandung, with “Very Satisfactory” predicate.

Although formally Widya has been intensely involved in law studies and airline business, her love and compassion on music have never been faded.  Rock n’ roll and latin music are two kinds of her favorite for relaxing even though she likes every kind of music with nice songs, and surely she would not leave her root which is classic guitar. Besides playing guitar, Widya also like to play piano which she learned by herself as an autodidact.  Elvis Presley and Julio Iglesias are her most favorite singers of all time, although she also likes other singers and musicians who are mostly latinos such as Ricky Martin, Carlos Vives, Carlos Santana, and many others. Along with her interest on French and Spanish languages, Widya also likes songs using French, Spanish, and Italian languages. She becomes more and more in love with the songs using those languages which are mostly having romantic lyrics and rhythm. 

Her deep love in the romantic songs which root is based on French and latin music encourage her to sing those songs and recorded them in a CD album. Collaborating with her brother who is also a musician/piano player/arranger, Krishna Siregar, as her Music Director, she started her debut in music by performing in Charity Concert “Love from My Heart (L’amour de Mon Coeur)”  for the earthquake victims of Palu, Sigi, and Donggala on 26 October 2018 and launching her first CD Album on 26 August 2019 which titled is “Widya Siregar & Friends” with several video clips to support her CD album.  The appearance of some other singers in some of her songs enrich the songs she recorded in her CD album. Michael Pentury and Nobel Anakotta, her duet singers in her first CD album, are good singers with amazing voices. Widya hopes the songs in foreign languages including English, French, Italian, and Spanish, will present something different to the public listeners in Indonesia, the country where she lives and where she comes from.
