Journey of a Soul "Widya Siregar" - Music in Many Senses, Languages and Rhythms

The life journey of someone is like a mystery.  Every step, dream, and hope, are full of secret. But when there is always optimistic, the secret might be answered. And it could be sooner or later !

The Album “Journey of a Soul” composed by Widya Siregar could be one of her answered dream.  Just like a new port of the heart, as if her long journey of life she has passed through is just step aside for a moment. Surely, it is to enjoy a series of the awesome composition in her first musical project.

We can say that Journey of a Soul is an album telling many things about love in happiness or sorrow.  Love for other human-being, love for what we believe, love for the beauty arising in every paragraph of her life story.  All of that are presented in the lovely musical harmony within 8 songs she performs in her premier album.

“In a creation of an art, as a composer I want to have freedom in expression and improvisation. Philosophically, Journey of a Soul is the story of a human who has a life journey, which in reality could have sadness or happiness.   In this case, we can say that this Album is a description of life which in reality including sadness and happiness,” Widya says.

Featuring a song called Romantique Diner, this woman who was born in Jakarta, has tried to pour her feeling in a concept of how enjoying  to have dinner with the sweet lover.  This song sounds serene, as it is written in French lyrics and epic composition of that fashion city.

Then there is La SIlueta which is featured  by Widya Siregar in the sense of everlasting classical pop. And then there is a song in Spanish lyrics, La Playa Fiesta.  This song is arranged in a medium beat and played in the sense of fun music.  A numbers of other interesting songs should deserve to be noticed, just like fatamorgana, You, Dark Shadow, Mi Guapo Querido, and  Le vin d’amour.

“I represent this songs in foreign languages, it doesn’t mean I don’t like Indonesian language. I see that the foreign languages in this Album as an existence of human-being created by God to live in many nations and languages,” this singer who idolize Julio Iglesias explains.

The Album Journey of a Soul is made by Widya SIregar together with Jazz Keyboardist, Krishna Siregar, as her music arranger. And during the process, several musicians take part to smoothing this album composition contains 8 tracks.  Among others are Damez Nababan (brass section), Jeane Phialsa (drum), Kadek Rihardika (rhythm section), Michael Pentury (vocal), and Nobel Anakotta (vocal).

By the presence of the Album Journey of a Soul, as a new comer musician, Widya Siregar hopes that the music she represents is able to be a soundtrack of the life of many music lovers wherever they are.

“I hope by releasing this Album then music world in Indonesia will be more variety with music in many senses, languages, rhythms, whether it is latin and European music particularly, and the western music in general.  And also hoping that through this Album all Indonesian society will have perspective in music with the senses, languages, and rhythms other than those which are mostly listened by Indonesia people,” she finalize.
